Introduction
This policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use llm-observer (the npm package, desktop app, and this website).
What llm-observer itself does
llm-observer runs locally on your own machine. It passively parses session metadata (token counts, costs, timestamps — never prompt or response text) from files that AI coding tools you already use (Claude Code, Cursor, Aider, GitHub Copilot, Windsurf, Cline/Roo Code, OpenAI Codex CLI) write to disk, and stores it in a local SQLite database. None of this is transmitted to us. If you separately choose to enable the optional local proxy, PII redaction, the AI Analyst, or team sync, each of those is opt-in and described on our security page.
What this website collects
We collect the minimum needed to operate: your email address if you sign up for product updates or a mailing list, and billing information if you purchase a Pro or Team license (handled by our payment processors, Razorpay and Lemon Squeezy — we don't store your card details ourselves).
Use of Information
Email addresses we collect are used to send product updates and, if applicable, your license key and billing receipts. We don't sell or share your email with third parties.
